Guitars
Often there are just too many guitars hanging around here. Guitars that have been out on loan, demo's, my players that have been superceded etc etc

No guitars sorry - I will have more available soon

Number 10 $1,300.00 - SOLD

This is a great guitar. I have used #10 as my own personal player for over 2 years. It is showing some pore sink [minimal] in the finish, some very light playing wear, the gold is wearing thin on the saddles and knobs. It is overall 95% condition

#12 The green Machine - SOLD!! to greg in sydney

Back from being out on loan for around 12 months. A very sweet sounding toneful guitar this one is too. It has a set of Bakersfield style pickups handwound by Mick Brielrey from Adelaide. Typical tele spank and jangle, well, even more so than a lot I have played from the factories of the Big F. Has some very light playing wear but has been looked after very very well. - 2 piece lightweight fully profiled Mahogany body - condition 98% Colour? roughly equivalent to the Seafoam Green of the custom color Fenders from the early 60's

Its a real Knockout visually as well as tonewise - See specs here

#15 Telstar - SOLD! to Rhys in Perth

Another demo T style guitar. The tradition visual styling is in stark contrast to the over the top tone generated by the SDuncan Broadcaster bridge and the hot Brierley Rythm. The bridge delivers a stiff muscular twang while the rythm is sweet, thick and warm - very P90 like. This is an ideal old school blues rock guitar if you really want to get back to basics. One piece fully profiled ultra light swamp ash body and a very pretty tiger maple neck. Very sesonant alive feel - The guitar weighs in at under 6lbs. Utra thin skin oil finish really allows you to feel the wood. Very slinky. condish 99%

1 greenish thread silver

$40.00 Each

Stainless steel heavy duty neck plates
$12.50
Improve sustain and add tone to your sound. This solid 3mm stainless neckplate will allow more compression to be exerted on that crucial neck to body join. Many players and so called experts tell us that to get the best sustain you need a set neck. Research in my workshop has shown that this is hogwash. Many others will back me up on this hypotheseis. What I have found is this: Increasing the mass of the neck plate, using a stiffer and heavier material, allows extra compression to be exerted at the critcal neck to body joint. The extra compression, together with well mated surfaces allows a much more efficient transfer of resonant vibrations along the string, through the neck and body, creating a more resonant environment. This will improve tone and aid sustain. Fits "F" vintage style screw pattern

The reason more pressure can be exerted is because this neckplate will not deform like the cheap, soft neckplates supplied by fender and other major guitar factories. Just because it is a custom shop guitar doesn't mean the neckplate is made of high quality steel plate. They are all stamped out in the millions at a factory in the big C.

It is recomended that before installing the HD SS neckplate, you remove the gunky bits of paper stuck to the heel of your neck and inside the neck pocket of your Fender style guitar. Ensure both neck pocket and neck heel are clean, smooth and mate well. This will allow maximum surface contact of the heel to the pocket. Once you have tensioned down the neck screws you will have a very tight union allowing maximum resonant transfer.

Surface of the plate is a brushed finish with slightly rounded top edges.

A template for countersinking the plate is available for $25.00 on request. It is big enough to take the base of an average laminate trimmer or 6mm router. [Please note no support is given on the use of this template]

Necks

BODIES
A pair of 2 piece LP style bodies in Arakira [hoop pine] $40.00 each ono

Rough sanded to 120grit front and back. The sides were machined with a spiral flute bit [read pretty smooth]
A blank canvass for carvetop, flat top, pickup layout, bridge, screw or set neck - whatever you want
They both exhibit a flaw in the wood on the top edge of the upper bout and really only suitable for a very good rough up relic job or a solid colour finish

Arakira is a pretty decent wood for guitar - I have made a couple teles from it with very nice results. It is used in industry for patternmaking and machines quite easily. It is surprisinly dense and heavy and has the resinous quality of most pine species. Similar to and north american white / yellow pine as used by leo fender in the earliest Esquires.

Ideal for a modding paltform

AMPS

Currently there is one amp available

O'neill 5e3 - $1,200.00 ono +freight
Mal's take on the venerable tweed Deluxe built at Fenders Fullerton factory in the late 50's. Beautiful tone with typical tweed overdrive from around 4 on the volume sweep. Mal has incorporated a few mods to the original design which really help it along the tone grail trail. The volume sweep is wider than a standard deluxe giving a little more clean headroom plus a little more control on the volume at lower settings.

If you've used a 5e3 you'll already know that this is a great mod. The original 5e3 goes from nothing to really loud overdrive at round 3 and you dont get much more volume after that, just more overdrive. With this amp you you get a more gradual increase in volume low down with breakup starting between 4-5. Also included a mod that allows unmatched output valves to be used without degrading the tone. Responds to od / dist / fuzz pedals very well

This is an excellent low power lead players amp. Plenty to get over a drummer unless you have a real animal on the backline who plays in the zone of death. Plenty for smaller rooms unmiked. Very raunchy when you get over 12 o'clock, jumper the channels to mix the bright and dark sides. It loves pedals. Running dimed this amp is intense. It really roars - you wont be blowing out rooves and windows but you will definitely be heard from quite a ways off. It's no bedroom amp.

Point to point handwired chassis. no pcb's - this amp is built like a tank. output according to mal 17 watts - about right to my ears as it is equal or better than a Blues Junior running a v30 and craps all over it in tone -

Currenty installed - Lorantz 50 watt 12"
Carlton dovetailed pine cab covered in blonde tolex.

A face plate is included on the amp but I haven't got a pic yet
